The ship Constance

Voyage of the 'Constance'

HMS frigate 'Constance' set sail on its first and only voyage as a pure sailing ship: three and a half years in the Pacific.  By chance the ship's main activity was gathering silver, gold and other specie from merchants in Mexico during the period of the Mexican-American war - 1847.  This is the tale of the ship's voyage when Edmund Heathcote - later Admiral Heathcote - was the senior lieutenant of the ship.

The story is split into sections.
